About Me
“You are living yesterday’s dream”
Those were the words my mother told me after one of my first nights at the Emory University Observatory. She was right. Ever since I was little, I dreamt of studying the cosmos. From watching every astronomy documentary that I could find, to joining the Guatemalan Association of Astronomy; I always wanted more and dreamed of one day becoming an astrophysicist. Consequently, I tried learning as much science as I could. More specifically, I competed in the Guatemalan Scientific Olympiads throughout high school, earning a national gold medal and a national silver medal in biology and mathematics respectively. Additionally, I represented my country twice in the Iberoamerican Physics Olympiad, earning a bronze medal in the 2016 edition.
Thanks to an academic scholarship, I then attended Emory University (GA, USA) where I obtained a B.S. in physics and astronomy with highest honors. The four years I spent at Emory were absolutely magnificent, and my experiences there allowed me to grow both personally and academically, and further cemented my passion for astrophysics. This led me to apply to physics PhD programs, and I am currently a graduate student at UCSB!
